Will a 55 inch TV fit in my car?
Usually yes — in most SUVs, hatchbacks and estates with the rear seats folded. The box is roughly 135 × 85 × 18 cm. But there are two things to check first.
The numbers
| Item | Approx. size |
|---|---|
| 55″ screen only | 122 × 68.5 cm |
| 55″ TV in its box | ≈ 135 × 85 × 18 cm |
| 65″ TV in its box | ≈ 160 × 95 × 20 cm |
Check these two things
1. Your opening, not just your boot. Measure the boot opening diagonally and the space with the seats folded. The box needs to pass through the opening — many saloons/sedans fail here even when the interior is long enough. A 55″ box rarely fits through a saloon's boot opening; it usually needs a hatchback, estate or SUV.
2. Transport it upright. Manufacturers say to keep flat-panel TVs upright (as pictured on the box). Laying a large LED/OLED panel flat risks cracking it from vibration and flex — and that damage isn't covered by warranty. Upright, slightly tilted against the folded seats, padded, is the safe way.
Frequently asked questions
Will a 55 inch TV fit in a normal car?
In most hatchbacks, estates and SUVs with the rear seats folded, yes — the box is about 135 × 85 × 18 cm and should travel upright. It rarely fits through a saloon's boot opening.
Can I lay a TV flat in the car?
Manufacturers advise against it — large panels can crack from vibration when flat, and that's not covered by warranty. Transport it upright, padded.
Will a 65 inch TV fit in my car?
Only in large SUVs, MPVs or vans — the box is around 160 × 95 cm and must stand upright. Measure your boot opening first or use delivery.
