EU, UK, US, Japan/China (which simply use foot length in cm) and inches. The most reliable number worldwide is your foot length: stand on paper against a wall, mark your longest toe, measure — then convert from there.

Chart rule used here — men: UK = EU−34, US = UK+1 · women: UK = EU−33, US = UK+2 · foot cm = (EU−2)÷1.5.

Shoe sizing genuinely differs per brand — a Nike 42 is not an Adidas 42. Use this chart to get close, then check the brand's own chart for the final call.
Frequently asked

How do I measure my foot length?

Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, mark the tip of your longest toe, and measure from the paper's edge to the mark in centimetres. Do it at the end of the day, when feet are largest.

Are Japanese shoe sizes in centimetres?

Yes — Japan and China simply use the foot length in cm as the size, which is why it's the most logical system to convert through.

Why is my size different in every brand?

Each brand builds shoes on its own last (foot form), so an EU 42 varies a few millimetres between brands. Use the chart to get close, then check the brand's own table.
