What is a US dress size 8 in European sizes?
US 8 is UK 12, EU/German 38, French/Spanish 40 and Italian 44. In Japan it's roughly a 13.
Why do UK and US dress sizes differ by four?
Historical numbering: the systems drifted apart over decades. The rule is simple though — UK is always the US number plus four.
What is vanity sizing?
Brands labelling garments with smaller numbers than the measurements justify, to flatter buyers. It's why charts can only get you close — the garment's actual measurements in cm are the truth.
